Ron I followed the 08 election very carefully and Obama beat Hillary by running to the left of her.

In fact he ran a pretty far left campaign and the reason, IMO, he got away with it was people were so tried of Bush and were looking for a savior, which Obama promised them.

The people were ready for change and especially: "Change you can believe in".

I believed everything he said. I went from being giddy to being in shock, unable to believe what I was seeing.

So I think the country might be ready for a good populist president like FDR, whom I think Obama was channeling in 08; at least in the peoples mind, if not his.

My daughter and her college friends are all hardcore lefty's and I was visiting them at the time. They were so excited they put up a projector in the garage and invited all their friends over to watch his speech.

He was making left wing speeches.

He broke the kids hearts when he moved to the right, after the election and then told them to quit whining about it.

He's a little conservative, but he comes close to being a good, solid Rockefeller Republican.
However, it's not him. The whole spectrum has been moved to the right.
If he'd been any further left, he wouldn't have been elected. There's that...
