Lots of across border business to counter embargo
Yeah.. hehe.. Putin basically just created a "smugglers paradise" by sanctioning food purchases from Europe and the US. I doubt that it's going to succeed if the intent is to boost domestic production of food in Russia. They've never been very good at it, being dependent upon Ukraine.

I saw an interesting Zerohedge article yesterday where the Russian Defense Minister told "peace-keeping" units to maintain their combat readiness..

But the kicker what that it was mentioned that these peace-keeping units were "contractors".. IE: Not actual "Russian" military units.

This suggests to me that he going to try and legally argue that Russia has not intervened in E. Ukraine, so there is no authority for the UNSC to intervene with a Chapter VII resolution. Private Contractors are not legal entities under the UN charter.. Just mercenaries..

This will be an interesting "twist" if the major superpowers start fighting wars using mercenaries in order to "officially" avoid stating that they are at war with each other.. Especially the Nuclear powers like Russia, US, and China..
