8/8/14 Contest update
When the best-performing Contest portfolio stock is an Ebola play, you’ve got to have mixed feelings. And that’s true for me, even though I do hold some Tekmira in my reality portfolio. Meanwhile, in the less fraught biotech universe, Friday’s rally managed to turn the week from minus to plus territory.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up .21% YTD (vs. down -.93% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 11.11% YTD (vs. up 10.54% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 4.65% YTD (vs. up 4.22% YTD a week ago).
DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 36.22% YTD, remains the Contest leader, with DOUGH’s portfolio, up 29.47% YTD taking back second place and DIEGO’s portfolio, up 25.80% YTD, dropping to third place.
At Friday's close, 23 of the 46 Contest portfolios were in the black, while 18 of the 46 beat the NBI. The median Contest portfolio stock (GHDX) is down -10.66% YTD.
