And your chart very clearly shows the trends - and what should be attributed to Bush and what should go to Obama. All I've been arguing Wharf is that the numbers going into a new administration belong to the out going President. Clearly those awful first months - 13 straight negative job numbers by my count - belong to Bush. Then there is three positive job numbers months and then four more negative numbers according to your chart. I think those numbers too belong at least partly to Bush.

Now look at Fords numbers. His numbers go straight up from a negative job creation when he took office and improved every year he was there. That trend was the exact opposite of the end of the Bush term. So just like the numbers of the first many months belong to Bush, the first numbers in Carters years (the only numbers worth a shit) belong to Ford. Fords trending numbers are straight up - Carters straight down.

Carter was a great guy and an absolutely awful President. For Krugman to manipulate the data the way he did is just dishonest.
