So far. Someone needs to do the engineering on it. The benefits would be enormous if, and so far that is a big if, it works. It should be a lot cheaper to build and can be built quickly. Medians of highways and interstates could be used and when those curve too much, it doesn't require much as to right of way.

It is something that is worth a gamble. Heck, some states could develop it. For California and/or Texas it would be more than worth it. Think of it as an extension of the highway system. It certainly could take a lot of pressure off of the highways. It would be perfect for certain types of cargo.

Mag lev is a different kettle of worms. If you don't use superconductors the tolerances are very, very tight. And that is problematic.
