Interesting, I have had 4 Dell's in the last several years. The last on was bought about 5 years ago. I wouldn't accuse Dell of any involvement, but they have had their tech support in India for many years so it would be easy for a corrupt employee to confiscate phone numbers. A simple Google reveals widespread phony "Dell support calls." If Dell had any knowledge why wouldn't they notify customers as a precautionary customer service. Oh, forgot "customer service" is not in their vocabulary. OTOH, this could be applied to any tech company providing support out of India.
