I think you're referring to Thorium Molten Salt Reactors, also called Liquid Flouride Thorium Reactors, right?

And an MSR can overheat, but it cannot "melt down" because it's already a liquid.. But it's designed with a passive safety feature in the form of a Thorium "freeze plug" that will melt at a certain temperature and drain out the reactor contents into a containment "bunker"..

I think it's a very promising technology.. But we need to accelerate their development..
