Real Journalists have lost their critical power in our democracy -- thanks to a number of factors we can discuss.

The Fourth Estate was M&A'd sometime in the 1980's by the machine we raged against.

Public Forums such as SI (the so-called Fifth Estate) did not get enough readers - and were chilled by those perps who wanted to manipulate their public exposure for profit and to avoid deserved outrage and remedies.

The biggest casualty was: sunlight as a disinfectant. Sunshine is too subversive for those who thrive in petri dishes of greed, in the dark of their 7x24 night.

But part of the problem is that the people have lost interest in anything that requires them to think critically. They want bumper sticker answers, not more complex questions.

Progress and justice will be slow.
