are you still against diversification when it comes to investing??

Will,

Absolutely. Right now I'm looking at a 15-20% gain for the year- down from 110%+ in mid-August. My goal is to invest every penny I have in what I consider value priced growth stocks, regardless of what % of my portfolio they may be. This last downturn caught me offguard, as it did many others. As such, I am merely trying to come up with $ for the margin calls now. Hopefully I can take advantage of the next downturn. If I could find a stock growing at 25-30% a year yet trading at 12X FY98 eps, and a leader in an oligopoly with huge barriers to entry(AMAT), I would not mind adding more of that stock to my portfolio, even if that stock was already 65% of my portfolio(not including shares bought on margin). It just so happens that the stocks with the greatest upside potential are the ones I currently hold IMO. Is it foolish to add to your positions if the fundamentals are only improving even if they are already a large % or your portfolio?? I have already lost ~50% from the August highs. Unless these stocks are headed for 0 there is not too much downside risk IMO. Just another opinion: The selloff we have witnessed is OVERDONE in a big way IMO. The leading brokerage houses have shaved 4-8% off of eps for AMAT for FY98 yet the stock has plummeted 50%+. Whoever said markets were rational....

Regards,

Brian
