It isn't "wingers" who have discredited them. There is physical evidence. Baden, who is the renowned expert on the subject, conducted an autopsy at the request of the family. His autopsy contradicted the so-called "eyewitnesses".

Not only is eyewitness testimony inherently unreliable, in this case if there were eyewitnesses the probability is very high that what they "saw" was influenced by what they "heard" while standing around after the killing.

When confronted with physical evidence that so blatantly contradicts the testimony of onlookers, it would make no sense at all to believe the eyewitness accounts.
