Kodak's sponsoring the 1998 Nagano Olympic Winter Games will definately put a dent in Fuji's armor. Hopefully from there they can make inroads into the Japanese consumer market. Kodak still remembers the embarrassment and the start of erosion of market share to Fuji when Fuji was the sponsor of the 1984 summer olympics in Los Angeles. Kodak will try hard to return the favor. They are in a battle here in the U.S. for marketshare. I suspect you will see discounts and promotional campaigns throughout the year. The gloves have really come off. They cannot afford to loose any more marketshare here in the US. They will be up to the challenge with a leaner and meaner work force.
