The small picture ended poorly as you say. And everyone pays an awful price; the boy of course, his family of course too, the policeman who shot him and his family, the community..........everyone!

But that misses the big picture. To me the big picture is how we have come to this. How it has come to picking sides in the death of a young man. This us vrs them. This militarism of our police. Shooting someone six times for God's sake! You don't shoot at a deer six times - but it is okay to do that to a young man? A police force that is almost all white in a black neighborhood? Then to confront angry protestors - can you say duh! - with military like force. My God, no wonder there is no trust on either side. ..........Race relations have more than stalled as it looks to me that we are moving backwards. No answers here, just sadness that this is happening.
