Nothing really new here, except maybe the militarization of local Police departments after 911. I would say the continued growth of disparity of wealth and our eroding public schools and our eroding job opportunities is contributing... increased poverty increases social unrest... refusing to even increase the minimum wage... I used to never see people on the street, begging for money close to where I live, it was always in other parts of town... I see it more often now, and this is while the ultra-wealthy are getting even more wealthy
