At the same time, I'm trying to figure out somehow I can get involved to do something to mitigate it. It's not easy though in a huge city. But for one thing, those housing projects need to get rebuilt and expanded.
OK, but let's get a few things confirmed:

1) You say you're in a "predominantly black neighborhood," but the trend is clearly pointing toward gentrification.

2) The trend is the result of market economics and socio-economic status, the latter unfortunately not being uniform across different racial groups.

3) You are not part of some grand conspiracy to drive out black people from Brooklyn.

4) "There HAS to be a reason," but it's not the simple reason you're looking for.
