>No, the biggest reason is because of supply and demand.

You don't think there's demand from people who aren't white and wealthy? There's plenty of demand. They don't have the money.

>This is the one theme that I see liberals constantly denying because they don't want to face the truth. It's THEIR demand. It's THEIR regulations that limits supply.

What regulations? There are a ton of high-rises under construction right now around here. They're just not open yet. Bloomberg did give tax advantages to developers, buyers, and renters in the buildings that have opened up already. In the condo building next door, buyers don't have to pay taxes for 20-25 years. My rental building is rent stabilized, albeit at rents that too many can't afford. Bloomberg also gave massive tax breaks for commercial development, where they're building stores that poorer people can't afford, and the stores that they can afford are moving out because their rents are going up. Duane Reade (now owned by Walgreens) has actively been trying, and succeeding, to push out many mom-and-pop-stores that have been around for years. Junior's, which is as iconic an establishment as there is in the borough, is on its way out.

In the meantime, Bloomberg said that he didn't really care about the homeless problem.

>This is not the work of some evil conspirators (though there are plenty trying to work the system, e.g. developers), and not the work of those oh-so-greedy Republicans.

Oh, there are oh-so-greedy Democrats too.
