The doom and gloom comes from the widespread thought that the chip industry's growth is slowing. 12% is far less than the growth rate for the past few years. The groth cycle is in fact that , cyclical, so don't give up yet. In two years, PCs will come standard with 128MB RAM and dual Pentium IIs inside. Moore's law should be revised to state that every 18 months the number of Pentium chips inside desktop PCs will double.

Remember when Bill Gates said that 640K (RAM) was more than enough memory for a computer? Look how far we've come!
