Scan-Optics, Inc., Ships System to Japan for New Health Claims Processing Segment
MANCHESTER, Conn., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Scan-Optics, Inc., (Nasdaq: SOCR - news) a leading provider of high volume document processing systems, today announced that the Company has completed the previously announced development project, valued at over $800,000, to provide a high speed image and data capture solution for another segment of the medical claims processing requirements of Japan. The initial system has completed acceptance testing and is being shipped to Japan.
Medical claims processing in Japan reaches volumes estimated at 100 million claim forms per month. The Company is in the process of fulfilling the requirements of the Japanese health organization which processes 60% of the claim forms on a countrywide basis. The new system will be focused on processing the remaining 40% of the claim forms. This system is based on the Company's highly successful Series 9000 Medical Claims Processing Solution currently utilized in Japan and the United States.
The system is being delivered to its longtime Japanese distributor, Toyo Officemation, Inc., a subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., and Oki Electric Industry Company Ltd., with whom the Company has teamed to complete this development.
In discussing this initial system delivery, Mr. Richard C.
