I have a imac mini that's 6 1/2 years old and has 10.6.8 OSX. It keeps freezing up about once a day now, and I have no clue why. I tried downloading some free anti-virus software but after 2 or 3 were downloaded and gave me the message that they wouldn't work with my OS, I decided to ask here if anyone had any suggestions.

Often the freeze happens when I click a new email, or before I can even click it. And sometimes the computer won't go back on when it's in sleep mode with the monitor black. Virus? Something else?

I'm waiting for the new imac to come out and want to be able to limp by until then with my mini.
If it's a virus, will transferring files from the old mini to the new mac import the virus?

Thanks.
