>> What should Obama have done?

It would have been a great start for him not to have stood silently by and watched it happen. When the Iranian leadership sees an American president cowering in the face of request for help from the protestors it simply emboldens them.

>> So, the "Arab Spring" was just what Bush wanted? He wanted Islamic Fundamentalism to flourish throughout the Middle East? Well, he GOT what he wanted.....

Again, you're trying to dump on Bush events that occurred after he was no longer in the WH. We could go back and forth on that forever but the reality is it was Obama's responsibility to deal with. That's the way our system works.

Bush clearly believed that providing opportunities for people to move toward freedom and away from dictatorship was important if you were going to tamp down terrorism. I don't know if he was right or wrong, although I do believe that oppressed people will prefer freedom if they believe it is achievable. That doesn't mean US-styled freedom, but some sort of right to self-determination.

At this point it is totally a religious war and we're going to have conduct a war on Islam. I would much rather Bush be leading it than Obama. Hillary may be capable but her time as Sec/State was not impressive.
