<Why is it that some political conservatives have been so obstinate in opposing any government action to address human-caused climate change? The answer is that they aren’t real conservatives. Real conservatives favor working toward a truly free and equitable society by intelligently considering our options and choosing those that will cause the least social upheaval and loss of individual freedom.>
No. The answer is that they thought there might be a problem, but after observing reality and comparing it with the Settled Science computer models, they understood that the Mann Made Warming theory was bung. Very bung.
They understand that more CO2 is not necessarily a problem because it's plant food, and that levels have historically been 5 times the current level and life prospered. They understand that there is a real threat of snowball Earth putting paid to life and that heat is something desirable for the most part, if it's not too extreme. Chlorophyll action is a good thing not a bad thing. Chlorophyl produces our food and almost all food.
The third sentence is what I have done. But what we think might be true and what is true can be two different things. As proven by the failure of Settled Science. I therefore reserve the right to change my mind if CO2 does start to look like a problem rather than a solution.
I"m not hijacking anything. I vote the way I think. If more people agree with me, we get to decide while the Settled Scientists have to get a real job. <Unfortunately, the Conservative movement is in the process of being hijacked by radical libertarians, whose rigid ideology extends only to protecting personal liberties, rather than acknowledging our responsibilities. For instance, the vast majority of climate experts, as well as the National Academy of Sciences and every other major scientific organization with expertise in the area, say that human-caused climate change is likely to be a big enough problem to warrant strong action to cut greenhouse gas emissions. But the radicals dismiss all that in favor or conspiracy theories and pseudoscientific gibberish.>
The conspiracy was demonstrated in the published emails by Jones, Briffa, Mann and co. Plants using chlorophyl is not pseudo scientific gibberish, nor is understanding that clouds, snow and desert reflect light gibberish.
A Libertarian position is to turn public assets into private property. Tradable Citizenship would help do that. Instead of being citizen serfs, or actual slaves, we would be able to sell our share of public value and buy into another country more suited to our needs. People would have a direct personal incentive to protect the commons to maintain their share value.
Collectivist life was tried by USSR, in Mao's Maelstrom, Pol Pot's place, North Korea, the Land of the Long Pink Shroud [New Zealand] and everywhere to a greater or lesser extent. It doesn't work as well as maximizing freedom and private enterprise as seen in Singapore, Switzerland, Hong Kong and these days, China. Tradable Citizenship is the way to go. You reactionaries want to wind back the clock.
