What are you talking about? Europe taxes the heck out of oil. More than half the price you pay at a European gas station goes toward taxes.

The EU also spends much more on farm subsidies than America does, at least according to Wikipedia:

The United States currently pays around $20 billion per year to farmers in direct subsidies as "farm income stabilization"[12][13][14] via U.S. farm bills.
