The incentives aren't that much of a mystery... Before the political left decided to flog the fraud of global warming as a tool for advocating policies that no one would ever agree to without having a "crisis" requiring it, there wasn't any need to fund "research"... Now, massive amounts of public money flow to duplicating departments of politically correct climate fraud verification at universities all around the world... with the only requirement for sustained funding, huge salaries, promotions, and professional validation being that you consistently provide "the correct answer" instead of doing actual science. If you don't understand that politics, and the politics of self advancement, always trump academic integrity... in the modern academy ?
