We looked for intelligence in toddlers a few years ago just by watching how they interacted socially. We noticed how they stacked blocks, how some made towers and some worked with others to make interesting architectural designs. We made all kinds of judgements about what that meant with regards to who was smart and who was dumb, mostly we determined that the level and quality of thought and effort the 'constructors' used, indicated something about their intelligence. We also noticed that a few kids would get frustrated and just kick the towers down or scatter the elaborate designs others had put so much thought and effort into. We determined these 'kickers' were not bright enough to actually accomplish anything constructive with the blocks. This is an emotionally debilitating realisation for the poor little kids. We also concluded that in kicking, they were able to give themselves a sense of power and control not achievable through constructive efforts. tejek is a kicker.
