8/29/14 Contest update
Biotech shorts got the Bum’s Roche on Monday, with the InterMune buyout making it a happy week for both the sector and Contest portfolios.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 9.64% YTD (vs. up 2.13% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 22.08% YTD (vs. up 17.47% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 9.67% YTD (vs. up 8.67% YTD a week ago).
Juiced by the InterMune infusion plus a pinch of UTHR, DIEGO’s portfolio, up 69.08% YTD, vaulted into first place, while DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 63.65% YTD, slipped to second place and WATCHIT’s portfolio, up 58.75% YTD, held on to third place.
At Friday's close, 32 of the 46 Contest portfolios were now in the black, while 13 of the 46 were beating the high-flying NBI. The median Contest portfolio stock (NWRN.SW) is down -4.76% YTD.
