It looks like the earth may be having its Drake Equation/Fermi Paradox moment. I doubt it. Oh, it could get pretty nasty, depending on how dumb Putin is. It would be interesting if Putin actually decides to nuke something. If for no other reason that the most heavily populated part of Russia will get fallout. That is going to play well at home... Unfortunately, Merkel's attempts at giving Putin at way out was rejected. Somehow, I doubt that Putin really wants to start a nuclear war over Ukraine. Or over sanctions. But who knows? This could be one of those inflection points where everything changes.
