Honestly- the Netherlands was a lot better than here. I liked it a lot. And what's more- the Dutch I talked to everywhere like it a lot. Speaking of lucky. They've got a lot to deal with if the ocean's rise- but I feel certain they'll cope. Their food is better. There health is magnificent. And they seem really happy.

The places that make you feel grateful you don't live in them, I don't want to visit. I'm not that kind of tourist :-)

But I want my students to be able to see the history that goes with their literature. It's expensive, but the tours are actually cheap compared to doing it on your own, because of the economies of scale- and of course my ticket is free :-) This is a working trip- and if people wanted to work as teachers, they too could enjoy the "lifestyle" of a working trip. I've asked a history teacher to come with me, so we should be an excellent pair to take the kids on this literary pilgrimage. But yes, I could afford to travel on my own nickle-and do. And I know other people can't. Life isn't fair, though, and me not enjoying my life won't make life better for anyone else.
