In what specific ways would an Apple Payments be more "credible" than a Google Payments? Better encryption? Better wireless tech? More efficient card selection? Or something else?

Google Wallet was an abject failure because it launched with barely any support on the customer or merchant sides. My wife was one of a scant million people who bought the Sprint Nexus S which I believe was one of the only supported handsets for a long time. Sure, she made a few mobile payments at Whole Foods, but we never saw anyone else do it.

Apple isn't going to do a half-assed launch. When they launch wallets, it will be A Big Deal. They won't leave their merchant partners in a lurch, because Apple will provide users en masse. They won't leave their users in lurch because Apple will make sure merchants buy in. That's what I take Ron to mean by credibility.
