Sam, as I good mental exercise ask yourself these two questions:

1) How many Pal women and children do you think the current Israeli gov & military (and civilian population at large) would shrug off as collateral damage if they could bag a high profile Hamas target? Note that recent examples give a lower bound to this estimate.

2) How much Pal land would the current Israeli gov & military (and civilian population at large) happily steal in the WB if Hamas by some miracle, bagged a top Israeli target while bagging the same collateral damage as a truthful answer to 1) would give? Again, note that we have a recent example of the math needed: 1000Acres for 3 deaths.

The answers to those two questions tells you what is going on there.
