I know I've read all about that, but two things need to be born in mind: 1) It was expected, and well warned about. It would be very extraordinary if it had not happened. 2) Many Israeli leaders were quite happy to see it happen, for the obvious reason that they wanted those Jews in Israel. BTW, you still see this happening today. I've been following with much interest what is going on in EUland, with rising RW and antisemitism, particularly say in France. I read Haaretz daily. This odd undercurrent remains in that while there is near universal condemnation of rising antisemitism, there is a lot of shrugged shoulders because the bright side is then maybe immigration to Israel goes up. I do note that one of the last Haaretz articles on it claimed that immigration from France was not being driven primarily by that however, it was rather down on the list of issues when they polled immigrants from France.
