so I agree with you that Apple's perceived security will help them, but that's simply a marketing edge (which the clearly already have). I was asking about concrete advantages they could potentially provide


Regardless of whether it is founded on anything real, Apple's perceived security advantage IS a concrete advantage. Merchants know that consumers are substantially more likely to adopt Apple's platform than competitors and so getting the virtuous cycle of increased users and increased points of payment is much easier for Apple to get started.

Apple may even come up with a better solution, but even if they dont, they start with an enormous head start against Android.
