Intel extends Chips offer

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 15 (Reuters) - Intel Corp on Monday said
it has extended its $17.50 per share tender offer for all
outstanding common shares of Chips and Technologies Inc until
2000 EST on January 19, 1998.
The company said the extension stems from the Federal Trade
Commission's request for additional information concerning the
transaction.
Intel expects to receive an FTC decision on whether it will
challenge the deal on or before Jan. 9. At the close of business
on Dec. 12, roughly 14,406,000, or about 65 percent, of Chips and
Technologies' common shares had been tendered.
