Users of an accounting software package filed what is believed
to be the first class action suit concerning the so-called
"Millennium Bug," a defect in some software that can't recognize
dates from the year 2000 on. According to the complaint, the
producers of the software are in breach of implied warranty and
unfairly marketed their software by not addressing the Millennium
problem initially or providing users with some means of correcting
it. Also review a "Millenium Bug" suit filed in June 1997 by a
Michigan produce supplier that alleges the cash register system
it purchased is unable to deal with credit cards carrying
expiration dates from January 1, 2000 and later.
