Tip for Firefox users--
I accidentally deleted my bookmarks under the heading "Investing, economics", which represented about 2.5 years of bookmarks that were important to me. Unbacked up bookmarks of course. A moment of panic ensued. But then I checked FF help, and lo and behold, it turns out that FF keeps a copy of the 15 most recent set of bookmarks. So restoring them is actually fairly easy, even for people like me who neglect to make timely backups.

To restore previous bookmarks:

Type cntrl-shft-b;
click on "Import & backup"
then go to "Restore" in the drop down menu. A list of dates will appear.
Click on the date of the backup you want to restore.

It kept freezing up on me, but finally worked after about 20-30 tries. I closed all windows and programs except for the one that had to be open.
