I believe this is no worse than what Microsoft announcing Internet Explorer did to Netscape. Microsoft obviously had huge resources and brand recognition, but Netscape had years of relevant experience and the market share. If S3 is able to produce some good products in the next year, I don't think this will be a big issue. With margins what they are, I don't even know why Intel wants ot get into the graphics chip business. Is Intels chip going to be the best? Too early to tell. Also, it is only 1 chip - hardly a complete product line.
