The number of attendess was somewhere between 40 and 50 with about 5 vendors showcasing their products and services. I am now being inundated with requests to both attend and speak at these seminars on churn and customer service in the past 6 months. The interest in churn has greatly increased as carriers have now gotten their hands on the fraud issues that they have been battling for quite some time. The new tools and techniques that are being deployed today have greatly decreased the carrier's exposure to fraud so they now see churn as the greatest threat to their bottom line. A recent Andersen Consulting report listed churn as an annual 4 billion dollar problem in the combined U.S. and European wireless market. Keep in mind that this report studied only wireless churn and did not take into account the local and long distance churn which is rapidly increasing. Not to mention the Internet Access churn which is rampant within the telco community.
