God I can't believe they can't pull off a vid stream! Free ad to millions.
I think that is the general misconception here.

I believe this Stream went out to as many as a Billion or more people World wide at the same time and I'm also certain Apple didn't do this themselves in house.

I switched ISPs and got several different feed sources for each Network I was using.

Nobody is perfect and expecting things to go perfectly is always going to lead to some disappointment.

This isn't as embarrassing as showcasing your newest best OS and getting the Blue Screen of Death while booting the Demo.

Even the last Olympic Opening Ceremony had Technical issues and yes it would have been a better experience if it had gone smoothly but I'm focusing on the message not the delivery.
