I figured as much. If one is an acute listener/reader of the news it seemed fairly obvious. These were targeted and probably resulted from a fishing exploit or something similar.

Its nice to get your input as I seem to be the only person here who is really obsessed with the notion that security is no longer fighting 15 year old coders. Malware/viruses/break ins are BIG business. Organized crime is investing in a big way. Getting caught and convicted is virtually non-existant so they see it as free money. Way easier than loan sharking, extortion etc.

I've privately messaged you with a question or two.

Yes. I conjectured in an earlier post that Apple was going to pay them and make it worth their while. I hadn't considered the additional angle of money savings from another layer/better security.
