It was a nice try ( the poor mare) sometimes forget the timeline of the chariot in warfare, we know the Egyptians were a little late to this party but then really mastered this art/craft technology later, the "king of kadesh" has such poetic ring.

These Indo/Aryan peoples known as Mitanni are very intriguing, seemd definitely much inplay during Thutmose's campaigns, part of larger group called the Hurians. We really do have some pretty large sweeping sketches of many off these ebb & flows of power shifting, occupations with so many alliances. Palestine was dominated client state of Egypt at this time.

Thutmose was kept very busy by design of his auntie Queen Hatshepsut who toally energizes the Egyptians with her own fabulous exploits to the Land of Punt. For political reasons manipulated Thutmose by keeping him out on the military expansion & exploit trail, Egypt at this time was really starting to rev engines & on full throttle and become the international regional power, big goings on for sure. ( took his scribes to record all of it, didn't want the folks back home to miss one little detail of his victories )

Megiddo was only the start of Thutmose many campaigns, amazing the energy that was drawn upon then, moving men & material farther afield than ever before, all the way to the Euphrates & Babylon maybe even using boats . These expansions by the Egyptians were of so much greater order than anything previous, exploits that reveal them at the peak of their power & territorial empire.

The Mitanni, Indo/Arayan (?) (very intriguing peoples)

The ethnicity of the people of Mitanni is difficult to ascertain. A treatise on the training of chariot horses by Kikkuli contains a number of Indo-Aryan glosses. [9] Kammenhuber (1968) suggested that this vocabulary was derived from the still undivided Indo-Iranian language, [9] [10] but Mayrhofer (1974) has shown that specifically Indo-Aryan features are present. [11]

The names of the Mitanni aristocracy frequently are of Indo-Aryan origin, but it is specifically their deities which show Indo-Aryan roots ( Mitra, Varuna, Indra, Nasatya), though some think that they are more immediately related to the Kassites. [12] The common people's language, the Hurrian language, is neither Indo-European nor Semitic. [13] Hurrian is related to Urartian, the language of Urartu, both belonging to the Hurro-Urartian language family. It had been held that nothing more can be deduced from current evidence. [14] A Hurrian passage in the Amarna letters – usually composed in Akkadian, the lingua franca of the day – indicates that the royal family of Mitanni was by then speaking Hurrian as well.
