Does anybody out there know about Tim Hortons. I've never ate at one, so I don't know about the quality, atmosphere etc. I would wonder though if doughnut shops in Canadian and Northern US small towns need the name recognition of a chain to be successful. That would seem to be more important in a place like LA where you want to get people to stop their cars and come in. Doughnut shops tend to have local, regular customers. The barriers to entry for competition seem fairly low.
