What Does the Cadillac Logo Stand For?

While there have been a few variations, the original logo has remained the same since 1905 when it was first used on the Cadillac cars. The logo was trademarked in 1906 and has been the symbol ever since.

Many all sport this same logo, which is a crest basically inside of a plant like thing on the sides. When doing the research, we actually found out that the Cadillac emblem is actually a coat of arms. The emblem is a family crest that was a part of the coat of arms of Antooine de laMothe Cadillac, the founder of Detroit. LaMothe Cadillac founded Detroit in 1701 and of course, this is the birthplace of Cadillac and General Motors, so hence the family logo. The emblem has one set of three merlette birds on one side of the coat of arms to signify his nobility on his mothers side and three merlettes on the other side to signify his father’s side. The reason that the birds are placed in threes, is to signify the holy trinity. Unlike other logos that basically just look good, the Cadillac logo is exceptionally special and means a lot to the city of Detroit and the vehicle.

The colors even mean certain things on the logo. The color red is for boldness and the blue signifies valor, while silver signifies purity. This is one of the oldest logos still used.
