9/19/14 Contest update
The Alibaba genie was stingy with wishes granted to smaller-cap biotech investors last week. And at Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 6.44% YTD (vs. up 7.37% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 21.53% YTD (vs. up 19.16% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 9.65% YTD (vs. up 9.36% YTD a week ago).
It’s now a tight three-way race for the Contest crown! Holding on to first place, but only by hair, is DIEGO’s portfolio, up 68.92% YTD. WATCHIT’s’s portfolio, up 67.33% YTD, is back in second place, barely edging out third place DEWDIL’s portfolio, up 67.04% YTD.
At Friday's close, 26 of the 46 Contest portfolios were in the black, while a mere 11 of the 46 were beating the NBI. The median Contest portfolio stock (still SPPI) is down -8.02% YTD.
