I saw a woman with one of the giant Samsungs in her hip jeans pocket the other day. Of course I don't know how well EITHER device would tolerate being sat on. My wife uses a Note 3, and soon a Note 4 (what can I say, she likes 'em big ;-) and also keeps it in her pocket, despite carrying a purse much of the time. The difference is that the Note 3 withstands torque quite well, while reports of the iPhone 6 bending are becoming widespread.
Apple didn't mislead anyone; they are marketing it as an uber-thin phone made of aluminum, and a reasonable person would consider, "what happens if a put a huge rectangular piece of skinny aluminum in my tight pocket, then bend?" Some older Android phones like the S4 and Xperia Z1 had bending issues as well, but they quickly resolved it with subsequent models and we haven't seen it since. The question is why Apple, who touts their quality build, would risk tainting the brand reputation by releasing a phone with similar issues. I'm sure they'll address it soon, but I'm curious what their approach will be. |
