I have this meeting with Nextel Wednesday, and I wanted to sharpen up on my knowledge on their system. Talking about it here helps me solidify the information in my mind.
About what is happening with Nextel, I was speaking with a Nextel sales person today, he told me that Nextel had a program here in Michigan during the summer where they were offering $100 discounts off the phone if you traded in your AMPS or new PCS phone in. He said the response was huge. When they ended the program sales slumped somewhat. He said today they were told that a new program to enhance sales is being implemented which will run until 12/24/97. Under this program, they are giving a $100 discount on the phone and free direct connect air time for one year. This is in the Southeast Michigan market, I do not know if it will be offered in other markets. He said Nextel has been fine tuning their tower's coverage patterns and making software adjustments to peak system performance. The units are still flying out the door.
How is that, a little less technical....??
Got to go, Happy Investing. By the way, I am not currently invested in Nextel, however waiting to jump back in, want to pull the trigger at the right time. I got in at $13.50 and sold several months ago, thought I found something better. I did make over 100%, but I sure miss investing in big successful companies!
Arnie, you do have a point about the stock going down on very little selling volume. Is that a NASDAQ trait, or just Nextel?
