By far the one constant we always see is war & competition for land/territory/resources, which has always led the parade of the advancement of technology. There is also endless barter, borrowing & stealing other's technologies, imitation which we find in nature all the time. This also applies to religion & other little rituals, those kinds of ideas being part of the general heading of human tribal culture that was always borrowing & being stolen from each other from the start.

And this procedes all the way down to the present day, war has always been the main driver of technology and stealing each other's secrets is an ongoing enterprise, dimmy.
