Mavenir Systems®, a leading provider of software-based networking solutions, announced today that it won the Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) award for its ‘Virtualized RCS based on NFV’ live solution at the LTE Asia conference in Singapore.

Ian Maclean, Vice President, Strategy and Marketing, spoke at the event and discussed how the transition to software-based networks based on NFV affords mobile operators the opportunity to disrupt OTT service providers as they deploy Voice over LTE (VoLTE) networks. He highlighted that NFV is a key trend that will drive cost down and will provide the flexibility and agility that mobile operators need to bring innovative new services to market.

“Virtualization is the underlying technology that is essential to the success of NFV,” said Maclean. “Mavenir’s experience commercially deploying virtualized solutions to our customers has provided demonstrable proof-points as to the benefits of virtualization that is driving the broad-based adoption of NFV as the foundation for the future of mobile networks.”

Mavenir has a virtualized portfolio of solutions that can run on industry standard COTS servers today and a worldwide presence in over 120 mobile networks reaching over 2 billion subscribers. Mavenir also recently announced the formation of two centers of excellence for NFV in Bangalore, India, and Shanghai, China, establishing a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region to support this key market as it plans for the next major phase of LTE network evolution.
