hello haim, i do not know what the tv networks are covering but am guessing only a tiny fraction of a moment at the very core of some momentary flash crowd
i wanted to engage this day with the revolt and see what it is made of, this public holiday, and i ... found absolutely nothing much
perhaps the rebels shall emerge at dusk, but i doubt such because i was out and uncharacteristically about causeway bay monday night, and tuesday night, and found ... nothing
there was nothing worth mentioning in central, hardly anyone about in admiralty, and well, pretty much empty causeway bay
a real puzzler
we plan to bring the kids to causeway bay this evening for a holiday meal, just so that they might experience twilight zone, either w/ or w/o crowd
maybe the struggle shall get more earnest in the next while, but in the mean time, given hong kong's resident population of 7M and at any given time 1-2M visitors (40-47M per annum), the 'crowd' on the street between causeway bay and central numbered no more than 1 thousand all-in between the time 10am and 3pm. hardly worth mentioning even as a footnote.
worth noting that
(i) the folks on the streets were polite except for a few old folks bothered that their shops were inconvenienced and ways were 'blocked'
(ii) all was orderly and clean, as the crowd cleaned up after themselves, and made sure they did not bother the plants lining the streets
(iii) the dress code appears to be black-colored shirts with baggy shorts for the guyz and hot pants for the girlz
(iv) traffic conditions are actually better than normal dayz
(v) stoic freedom hong kong is weathering the revolutionary storm well, with nothing burning and no riots
(vi) the rebels seem keen on macdonald's and cafes
(vii) felt it was my duty to get in touch w/ the masses, so had a double cheese burger to sate my revolutionary fervour, but
(viii) i shattered the myth that it would be easy to pick up idealistic girlz during a street revolution, according to woody allen. i note the pretty girlz are assuredly hanging out w/ their boyfriends in street cafes
(ix) as tomorrow is again a holiday, i could not resist stocking up on pre-revolutionary food from city super
did not break sanction, for the caviar is german-farmed, even if in russia, and the salmon roe is from alaska
shall be more right than wrong tomorrow when time to buy the champagne and bring home the baguette
i intend to celebrate the dawn of the civil disobedience age even as i am absolutely against the breaking of peace and the breaking of law
let the chips fall wherever they may, and imo, all good, keeps the students sharp and the civil servants on their toes
