Hi Denis,
You only get what you get. In an assay that is. Believe me there are few assays that will match the discovery area. Deposits just don't maintain values that rich. But 42 opt platinum is the highest grade platinum assay I have ever produced. Even if I never see another sample that rich, I have seen that one.
I once sampled a gold telluride vug that assayed 800 opt gold. The mineral was petzite. I still have about 1/2 of that highgrade in my basement, about 20 pounds that is so rich it looks like lead ore. I have another gold sample from the Gold Standard, Sunny Side Mine. The gold is visible and is an obvious significant percentage of the thin section. I purchased my specimens from a rock dealer. The sad thing is that PGM high grade specimens are never very spectacular to look at. This core is 60 percent metal to observation. Mostly the sulfides of iron. A gray carbon (graphite) is also almost 50% metal sulfides, but the metal is so fine grained that you need a microscope to see that it is metal. I would like to take some of the core that was given to me and assay it, but I think I will just keep the core as specimens. There will be more, I am told. You know, some of these deposits are banded. Some rock will be baren of values, some rich in precious metals, some rich in base metals and some marginal of each. No one really knows the character of this deposit yet. All speculation. Good start. I like it. Merry Christmas. mike
