Part of the problem is that Apple makes great products. We have three old iPad minis in our home and they all function well and look great. If I put them next to a brand new unit, one would not be able to tell that they are a few years old despite the abuse they get from our 9 and 11 year kids. At this moment there is no reason for us to go out and buy a new iPads.
