nice find, Savant. Thanks!
What I don't get is why is UPS interested in receiving/storing/archiving the customer meshes who are dumb enough to us UPS to "professionally print" their original designs?? Another NSA, point of sale grab? Can you just see the UPS now creating policy to regulate "WHAT" is acceptable use of their pro-printers?
This is nutso on the surface of things. Having stood more hours than I care to remember in UPS lines at their "stores", I'm not going to be real keen upon A) surrendering my designs to the BUNGLING bean counters at the UPS "stores," nor B) nor whatever "appropriation of my designs" in the forever stored in the Cloud backup in perpetuity plan awaiting my meshes. That's a creative hijacking on steroids!
Don't people THINK first anymore?
I predict a firesale on UPS 3-D PRO-Printers in the not to distant future as they discover they wasted money on this stupid idea for driving revenue. Don't they make enough off us slugs to pay the bills? Heck, they just goosed shipping rates gynormously about 18 months ago. I'm still reeling over that impact to MY bottom line. And UPS now wants to print my "gizmos" too? In what lifetime???
I'd sooner trust Kinkos/FedX than UPS, truth be told.
God forbid, USPS also follows suit. I mean, EVERYONE knows their customized TY bears promotion was such a roaring success. /s
Oh, and now, I can buy cheap greeting cards at my local post office now. Watch out Hallmark! LOL
God forbid those that can't scan nor sort mail in the first place, also be running Tech Support for stand alone 3-D printers in THOSE facilities should the USGovt/USPS (private my asp) get into this space! oi-vey! |
