So as evolution is true, so it is true that the source origins for your religion, theology & cosmology descends down from Meopotamian, Assyrian, Egyptian, Babylonian, Persian & the Greeks. The Elphantine Papyrii of the Egyptian temple settlements, just adds a clear admission of this late stage polytheism, which is simply all we need to know. Your monotheism has a far later emergence, only after contact with these larger more highly developed culturres.

One god or many, well one god would be appropriate for a beaten down group of impoverished tribes, all they could really afford to make & worship was one. In the far richer, evolved & developed cultures, they could support a pantheon of gods which also enriched their imaginations as well.

This emerging "law" demanding only one temple in one sacred city is a feature of many countless religions we have seen over the entire landscape of human cultures since the beginning of time. This couldn't be more strategically Darwinian, of centralizing control, creating unity (protection in organized numbers) by commanding obedience thru an entire array of psychological & sociological gambits, from fear to religious ecstacy & a sense of themsleves in time.

All religions have this same basic Evolutionary function, did you think you were so special?
